Take You Into the World of CIMC HONGTU International Projects

As China is stepping further into strategies of going global and Belt and Road initiative, Jingmen Hongtu Special Aircraft Manufacturing Co.,Ltd. (hereafter called CIMC HONGTU), is taking its own part in creating records in overseas EPC projects. Especially in the last few years, HONGTU’s international projects are booming in Southeastern Asia and Africa.

In West Africa, CIMC HONGTU delivered her first EPC project in LPG Spherical Tank and Terminal in W city in West Africa in 2017. In the following year, CIMC HONGTU completed her second LPG Spherical Tank and Terminal in B city in West Africa. In 2019, we delivered a 80km of a long distance pipeline for natural gas in T city in West Africa.

In 2020, despite the widespread of Covid-19 in the world, CIMC HONGTU sent out three courageous groups of “heroes in harm’s way” to Africa for three different projects. One is for the long distance natural gas pipeline project in northern part of P city in West Africa with 170 Chinese personnel and the second one is a 30 plus team for  LPG Spherical Tank and Terminal EPC project in T city in West Africa. The third one is also a 30 plus team for 2*5000m³ of LPG Spherial Tank and Terminal in L city, West Africa. What’s more, the forth team of a 15 professionals for the Y City 1*6000CBM LPG Spherical Tank&Terminal Project has launched their first erection works after a 14 days self-quarantine conducted as per the local Authorities Public Health Policy. Under the tropical scorching sun of Africa, four teams are working with vigor and passion which exemplifies the professionalism, good ethics and CIMC HONGTU’s vision for expanding the global market.

The T-Project Team arrived on October 25^th, 2020 and dived into work immediately against multiple challenges were facing us. Non-accessible route, far distance of tank shells to tank foundation, logistics not ready and the risk of contracting Covid-19. T-Project Team pushed on with timely communication with the Employer and efficient organizing and turned the situation around to our side. With less two months, we finished the erection of the 2*6000m³ LPG tanks and welding for the first tank is ongoing as planned. The speedy execution with quality assurance received good wishes and thanks from Employer and it laid a solid foundation for the timely future delivery of the project to the Employer.

The EPC of 2*5000m³ of LPG Spherical Tanks and Terminal in L city faced similar challenges as the T city one. Community disturbance, ineffective communication suffered and lack of logistics supply all piled up. The L team established efficient communication mechanism and provided the needed documents to consultants which enabled smooth work in the coming weeks. On December 23, 2020, we completed the erection for Tank No.1’s lower part and the work earned respect from our client.

Logistics supply is always a huge challenge for companies work in Africa. The limited options of vegetables, heavy traffic jam and difficult purchasing work all bring a massive burden for the project management. The Project Manager instructed that we need to stock enough food supply and purchase fresh ones to make sure workers can have full quantity, healthy food. On one hand, it enables the project going forward on the right track. On the other hand, it showcases our company’s endeavor of humanistic care to everyone.

Africa is a land of exotic characteristics and it nurtured countless cultures and peoples. L city in West Africa is a complicated social hub with religion, community, tribes and government all mixed. As the most populated country in Africa, the place is filled with vibrancy as well as numerous social challenges. Among them, Community Issue is one that no company in this country can avoid. Apart from cooperating with Employer and Supervisor, it’s vital to take care of Community Issue carefully. Before the commencement, the CIMC HONGTU team following the local tradition and went to visit the local chief which returned with respect from local community. The active approach to engage with local community not only clear the hindrance for future work and it also bears factual benefits for the project.

We believe with increasing expertise in the international market, especially the capability to defend and manage risk in overseas projects, CIMC GONGTU will expand her market share in the coming years. At the same time, the international division will work with engineering, HR to create a model team with international vision, mindset, business awareness and professionalism. This team will be a talent pool that enables the enterprise transformation and upgrading, growth with quality, deepening of international market development. The team will help CIMC HONGTU creat another invisible World Champion Product for CIMC Group which will contribute to our efforts to push low-carbon and green energy closer to the world and fight with climate change.
